ArtPassions.com, an Ithaca, MI-based manufacturer and retailer of custom framed art, has launched a re-designed site that includes an interactive frame application from Avid Commerce, an Internet technology provider.

The Java-based technology allows shoppers to specify frame, mattes and matte widths, and displays the chosen combinations without a page refresh. It also allows shoppers to choose the wall color against which the art will hang. The framing technology allows shoppers to create over 25 billion print, frame and matte combinations. The site also displays the chosen art in scale to a human.

“This approach is based on the motto ‘Give the customer choice,’” says Stephen Antisdel, managing director of Avid Commerce. “The custom framing tools allow the site’s visitors to choose from tens of thousands of high-quality prints, and customize the frame and matting to an amazing degree.”

The site redesign also included back-end productivity tools, such as drag-and-drop image cropping, Antisdel says.

Art Passions was founded in 1992. Its operations include Craig Frames Inc., a 70,000-square-foot wholesale framing business, and two large retail outlets.
